Gang Concept
|
| |
The standard gang is made up of one to two Deere 120C excavators equipped with a RCE Tie Head, RCE Tamper Head and 9” Cribbing Bucket. Gang size can be as large as 4 or 5 machines, depending on the size of the tie replacement project.
The RCE Off Track Tie Gang System can offer you a cost effective way to complete Tie replacement track maintenance without the need to stop trains.

|
Basic Process
|
| |
The basic process of the gang is as follows
|
| |
1. The first machine travels along side the track and starts removing ties with a cribbing bucket
|
| |
2. The second machine follows and inserts new ties using the RCE Tie Head
|
| |
3. The first machine then attaches the RCE Tamper Head and tamps the new ties.
|
| |
All of these operations are completed under a Form B the equipment swings into the clear and the trains are allowed to pass during this process. This allows the transportation department to keep trains moving and the maintenance of the track in high traffic areas to be completed.

Hydraulic Rotating Tie Heads
RCE hydraulic rotating tie heads are designed to provide a reliable tool for track tie inserting and removing. The tie head is mounted to a modified John Deere excavator and can replace ties from the right of way without the need to delay trains.
The head uses hydraulic cylinders for rotation and clamping eliminating the age old problem of rotary motor break down. These tie heads have proven themselves to be very reliable and low maintenance.
These heads can be mounted on several sizes of excavator 120C, 160CLC, 200CLC
The tie head requires that two auxiliary hydraulic circuits be added to the excavator.
|
Hydraulic Tie Tamping Heads
RCE hydraulic tie Tamper is designed to provide a reliable tool for track tie tamping without the need to be on track. The tamper is mounted to a modified John Deere excavator and can replace ties from the right of way without the need to delay trains.
The tamper head that is used is a Jackson 1400 single side tie tamper that is modified to work off of the excavator hydraulics
These heads can be mounted on several sizes of excavator 120C, 160CLC, 200CLC
The tamper head requires that two auxiliary hydraulic circuits be added to the excavator
